  • Garage Sale and Karate

This weekend was the usual flurry of activity in the Fryar household. On Saturday May 3rd we are having our first garage sale since being in Hidden Valley. So that means going through all the junk we have stored since moving in.

We have been slowly going through the basement, closets and garage for the last few weeks, but this weekend we went whole hog. It started by just carting up boxes from the basement and rummaging through them. Must be why garage sales are called rummage sales.

We convinced the kids (Ok just BG) that they will get all the money from any toys they sell. So we also went through all of their toys and took probably a third of them. Of course the instant the older toys came out Aiden loved them all. We saved a few and pried the others out of his hands, ok not really.

So far we are mostly done with pricing but are realizing that we are out of room in the garage. The weather is not cooperating with us so most things will have to stay on tables inside due to rain. I will probably be building a few temporary tables this week.

More of the sale after the weekend.

Karate, BG started classes a few weeks ago but last Friday he had his first “test”. He demonstrated 7 karate moves w/o parental help and won a ribbon. Below is a shot of him in one of the moves and his ribbon. He also was supposed to start Tee-Ball this past Monday but stayed home due to an ear infection. Wednesday is his next class and I hope he feels well enough to go.

  • Something Bugging You

** UPDATE ** I have been contacted by the manager of the Zantigo’s in question. They are very apologetic and have talked to the staff in question about how they reacted to the situation. I think they have done a satisfactory job since and applaud them for their commitment to customer satisfaction.

I just had a very interesting experience at the Woodbury Zantigos, well not so much my experience as my co-worker Jim’s. We went to have a very quick bite to eat before running some errands and Zantigos has some good chilitos.

I got my usual order of chilitos and green chili and Jim ordered chilitos and some Mexican potatos. Mexican potatos are just tater tots that have been deep fried and seasoned, but they are pretty tasty… Normally.

Zantigos Fried Bug SpecialAfter eating a few potatoes Jim picked up something special out of his potatoes. We think it was a wasp or other larger flying insect that either fell or was pushed into the frier. It was totally disgusting and needless to say he did not finish his potatoes.

The worse part if you can think of something worse is that when he pulled aside an employee to show her the buggy potato she responds, oh well I can give you some more potatoes if you wanted. No apology, no offer to refund the potatoes, just an offer for more of the specially dieased bug potatoes.

I do not think I will be going back to Zantigos for some time.
