  • Jackson, WY Day one

Saturday marked the beginning of my skiing trip to Jackson, WY. It started with me being ripped from my dreams by my alarm clock at 3:30am. After quickly getting dressed and taking the dog out I was off to Savage to meet Matt at his house. Jennifer graciously drove the three of us to the airport.

Polygamy Porter Beer SignWe made it through the security check points w/o incident and at 6:10am we were off to our first destination Salt Lake City. Once there we had a 3 hour layover and stopped off a small pub for breakfast and barley pops. This place sure had creative names for their locally created beer as you can see in the image on the right.

So after a quick 40 minute flight from Salt Lake City to Jackson, WY we arrived. However during that flight I started to have a bad hacking cough. I knew that in order to ski I would have to take some drugs to get the cough to stop.

After obtaining our luggage we picked up our rental SUV, and checked into the hotel. A quick trip from the hotel to the grocery store got me the drugs I hoped would help me through skiing this week. I took some non-drowsy cough medicine and hoped for the best.

Teton Mountains from Snow King ski hill. The picture to the left was taken from the smaller ski hill in downtown Jackson called Snow King. It shows some of the mountains in the Teton range. Looks beautiful.

After skiing for a few hours I started to feel dead exhausted and the cough medicine really did nothing. I decided to wait out the rest of Matt and Nate skiing in the lodge.

With my fever developing and starting to get the chills we got a quick burger from Billy’s Burgers and went back to the hotel. I took my nightquil medicine and hit the bed around 9pm. A disappointing start to my vacation.

  • Busy Weekend

For a weekend that started out with no plans it sure was a busy holiday weekend! Saturday was a gorgeous day and BG was full of energy but no one was around to play, so we decided to take him to the tubing park.

Green Acres Tubing ParkGreen Acres is a small tubing area in Lake Elmo. It has two different “runs”, one for everybody that is probably 100 yards long, and a much steeper run for 13+. They let Brandon in free with my ticket provided we share a tube, being his first time this was fine. The rope tow rope takes some getting used to but after I learned the trick of laying on the rope it became much easier and my arms thanked me!

An hour and a half of tubing was enough for Brandon and myself, it did not help that we were both soaked through our snow suits due to the wet snow. After grabbing a quick hot chocolate we left the hills for another day.

Koi FishOn Sunday I received a call from a friend, Brad Nuss. They were coming to the Mall of America to take their 16 month old daughter through the Underwater Aquarium and invited us along. Brandon enjoyed the sharks, but we got a kick out of Aidens expressions when he saw the Koi (sp?) pond and all the fish jumping around. After the aquarium we had a quick lunch at a BBQ place and wrapped up another busy afternoon.

Monday was a bit more laid back for myself and Brandon. I worked from home while he enjoyed a few movies and a trip to a neighbors house. Of course the obigitory trip to McD’s for lunch and slides made for the “best day ever” to quote BG.

Well I guess it is back to work for me. Enjoy your Tuesdays!
